Who am i… I’m a 27 year old Texan who wasn’t born in Texas. I was actually born in Venezuela to Colombian parents, so I usually check the “hispanic”, “latino” or if really lucky “south american” box on forms. My family and I immigrated when I was ten years old and that’s when I started being a professional geek. When I was little, My mom thought I should be a lawyer, I thought I should be an astronaut/architect and everyone else thought that I should start a grand company. I went to a regular middle school but I was geeky and was part of the Astronomy class where we had mock Shuttle missions. I went to a geeky high school where I got involved in community service and robotics competitions which then led to a geeky college in Worcester, MA.
While at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, I did a little bit of everything… I ended up in Management Information Systems but took something in pretty much every major. I continued my involvement with Robotics and joined a fraternity but spent the majority of my time in the Social Committee and Theatre organizations. Which is where I met my current roommate Tyler and Emily’s brother, Andrew.
After a disastrous experience on my final project at WPI, I returned home to Texas and spent some time working with my mother on a couple of small businesses and community theatre. Oh, and robotics. Can’t forget that.
While in Texas, my WPI friends here in Mass were constantly pushing me to return and eventually I listened and I got hired by a healthcare software company here in Boston.
These days, I play dodgeball, make short films and help out in the planning of the Boston FIRST regional. (Its a robotics competition
