Beginning of the end…

After a week’s hiatus, let me tell you, there’s been big action at Peabody Sonic!

They had a hiring fair at the hotel next door on Friday and got a nice mention in the Boston Herald’s business section where the franchise owner is shown enjoying the seating!

As of this afternoon, the seating and roofs for most of the drive-in bays roofs are now complete.

Excellent progress and i look forward to a cherry limeade at the end of the month!

August 16th Sonic Update

New update from Peabody!

Some cement mixers were on site and some of the drive-in bays have already been poured. Very exciting progress!

But the best sign of progress, and no, i couldn’t help myself, the honest to goodness Sonic sign is up!

I’m sure they wish that it was taller and closer to the roadway but there are utility lines that i’ve cropped out from the right side of the image.

August 1 Sonic Update!

Since I found out that Sonic is coming to Peabody, I’ve been looking for updates but alas, nothing, so I’m taking matters into my own hands!

The structure is up but they’re just barely putting up insulation. The lot hasn’t been leveled and so they haven’t started on the drive-in bays.

Can they get it done in five weeks? We’ll see!

I’ll go check on them in a week and see where they are!

Late July Sonic Update

Internet, I’ve made it to the directory of directories: I am on IMDB!

I wanted to put up a wonderful picture but apparently, I need to pay for such a privilege, so no thanks.

Now I just need to do something noteworthy enough to have a Wikipedia page, and have nerds argue about its contents.

I’ve made it! (mostly)

Ladies, please sit down. I have some news to share.

If facebook is to be believed, MikeD is no longer single. Is he in a relationship? Who knows! This is wild!

Did we just get rickrolled by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Update:

When I looked to see what was going on this morning, I ran across the press release on the Astley site indicating his appearance, but it wasn’t clear as to how telegraphed it was.

It wasn’t until I saw the video that I knew that we REALLY had been rickrolled! Apparently, the Foster’s imaginary friends people were singing a song from their show, which then stopped and Rick Astley appeared and sang, as he often does.

Thanksgiving day rickroll?

Life continues to take ever crazier turns.

I’ve been caught in the gravitational pull of one of my client’s upgrades even though that’s not normally my turf. I’m hopeful that things won’t get so bad that I’ll have to be shipped out, but who knows. In the meantime, I’m on deck if I’m needed.

Its kinda stressful as we just brought some new folks on board and I was looking forward to guiding them through our maze instead of juggling powderkegs.

In other news, watch Dr.Horrible’s Sing Along Blog if you haven’t already. Its available on Hulu if you don’t care for the Itunes toll.

Hi Ho Silver

Check it! I’ve been supremely busy. Guys took me to F1 Boston as a bachelor’s weekend thingy, then I was in California for 30 hours or so then back and then winding down with some deck paving and the premiere of our little film project on Sunday.

Hopefully, other interesting things will happen and then I’ll write about them!

Baby steps. That’s what its gonna take to get me back on the wagon.

Oh hey! Internet!

This weekend was quite intense and tiring as it featured Emily’s bridal shower and my parents meeting hers for the first time.

As my parents flew in on Thursday, this meant that if I was going to leave work in time to get out to Manchester and meet them, I would need to traverse the Celtics Victory parade that went right past my office. So I stayed home. This is always a mixed bag as I am able to focus on fewer items and get them done… but at the same time, I feel like I’m not getting much done because I’m not doing twelve things at a time.

Moving on, Thursday was a low-key afternoon and Friday featured the touristy stuff and parent meeting. We went to Alfresco’s near Davis Square and were rewarded by an amusing atmosphere and good meal. The meeting itself went well.

Saturday was the day of doom though, you see, this weekend was also the Boston stop for Mini Takes The States 2008 and we knew that we were going to miss most of it due to our previous engagement. We did manage to make it to the first half of the rise and shine rally along with some two hundred other MINIs. We had to then bail about a third of the way through as it kinda took a while to get up Route 1A.

We made it into a couple of pictures at the staging area as we were next to another lightning blue/silver Clubman and so seen from the front  and then from the back and we took our own pictures of what we saw. It was a pretty awesome sight and it was awesome to see the distances that people will go with these cars. I see the need to take a lot more time off and go on road trips. Depending on how they structure next year’s events, we might do that or else we’re thinking of Mickey and MINI down in Orlando, as we’ll have annual passes from Disney.

Anyways, I digress, after bombing down 128, Emily headed out to Fitchburg with my parents towards the bridal shower while I headed to Logan to pick up my sister. From what I saw, the shower itself was a nice event and we came back with a lot of loot, most of which easily fit in the back of the Clubman.
Thanks to all, your thank you cards will be in the mail shortly.

Crazy weekend action
