What is this logic you speak of?
Sick people cost businesses time and money you say?
A $7 trillion hit to the GDP over 20 years if we do nothing?
Shared by JonBy Frank James President Barack Obama, like his predecessors, has made improving science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, education a priority. On Monday, he announced a new initiative of his administration called "Educate to Innovate" meant to raise the performance of U.S. stude... Found via...
If we have more engineers and scientists, there will be awesome things invented. Was that so hard?
The world needs better water management, better energy sources, better infrastructure, it goes on!
"They may not have jobs" is about the stupidest complaint i've ever heard about STEM education.

Gotta love the ninja cat!
I'm not quite sure what exactly is going on here, me being somewhat of a dullard and all, but I do know one thing: this there is one neat video. [Random Good Stuff]

Apple's Mistake — I don't think Apple realizes how badly the App Store approval process is broken. Or rather, I don't think they realize how much it matters that it's broken. The way Apple runs the App Store has harmed their reputation with programmers more than anything else they've ever done.

Way to go Texas legislature. Way to go.
Barbara Ann Radnofsky, a Houston lawyer and Democratic candidate for attorney general, says that a 22-word clause in a 2005 constitutional amendment designed to ban gay marriages erroneously endangers the legal status of all marriages in the state.
The amendment, approved by the Legislature and overwhelmingly ratified by voters, declares that "marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman." But the troublemaking phrase, as Radnofsky sees it, is Subsection B, which declares:
"This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."

November 18th, 2009: If you missed my Reflections | Projections talk, the tastefully-titled "GUYS, LOOKS LIKE IT'S WACKY TIME", and you still want to see it, then I've got some good news for you: the videos of all the talks are now online! If you do anything with JavaScript, Douglas Crockford's talk, JavaScript: The Good Parts was really interesting, Alexis Ohanian's opening talk was excellent, and Robert Lang's talk on folding and origami was just incredible. Did you know you can solve quadratic equations by folding paper? The entire length of this Robert's talk I was nudging Jenn beside me and saying "I am tripping balls", and then whispering "whoaaaah"! You can watch all these (and more!) (and apologies to the speakers I grouped under "more", but I didn't want to go on forever!) on the videos page. Seriously, check them out!
HERE ARE THE HOLIDAY SHIPPING DEADLINES FOR AWESOME DINOSAUR COMICS STUFF, YOU GUYS:
So what this means is that if you don't live in the States, you should order soon to get sweet presents there in time for Christmas - no later than December 15th at the very latest, and that's with paying for express shipping. It's cheaper the sooner you order! If you live in the States you can push this a bit longer with the domestic shipping options, but you really shouldn't wait! Might I recommend... these rad greeting cards? – Ryan | |||
