This weekend was quite intense and tiring as it featured Emily’s bridal shower and my parents meeting hers for the first time.

As my parents flew in on Thursday, this meant that if I was going to leave work in time to get out to Manchester and meet them, I would need to traverse the Celtics Victory parade that went right past my office. So I stayed home. This is always a mixed bag as I am able to focus on fewer items and get them done… but at the same time, I feel like I’m not getting much done because I’m not doing twelve things at a time.

Moving on, Thursday was a low-key afternoon and Friday featured the touristy stuff and parent meeting. We went to Alfresco’s near Davis Square and were rewarded by an amusing atmosphere and good meal. The meeting itself went well.

Saturday was the day of doom though, you see, this weekend was also the Boston stop for Mini Takes The States 2008 and we knew that we were going to miss most of it due to our previous engagement. We did manage to make it to the first half of the rise and shine rally along with some two hundred other MINIs. We had to then bail about a third of the way through as it kinda took a while to get up Route 1A.

We made it into a couple of pictures at the staging area as we were next to another lightning blue/silver Clubman and so seen from the front  and then from the back and we took our own pictures of what we saw. It was a pretty awesome sight and it was awesome to see the distances that people will go with these cars. I see the need to take a lot more time off and go on road trips. Depending on how they structure next year’s events, we might do that or else we’re thinking of Mickey and MINI down in Orlando, as we’ll have annual passes from Disney.

Anyways, I digress, after bombing down 128, Emily headed out to Fitchburg with my parents towards the bridal shower while I headed to Logan to pick up my sister. From what I saw, the shower itself was a nice event and we came back with a lot of loot, most of which easily fit in the back of the Clubman.
Thanks to all, your thank you cards will be in the mail shortly.
