Ha! If Michael Bay had written The Dark Knight…

It would be comedy gold… Here’s a snippet:
EXT. A HIGHWAY - DAY
The Batmobile is gunning down the highway at over 200 miles per hour, weaving through traffic. Every time BATMAN is about to crash with a civilian, the camera enters ultra slow motion and we see him barely squeeze by, frame by frame. This happens seventeen times.
You should read the other little bits here.
Dr.Wily has had a few problems taking out Mega Man and in this behind the scenes footage, we find out why… the level designers union.
Bottle Shock is based on the true story of how California wines got on the map. A blind tasting called the Judgment of Paris was setup by a British wine merchant in 1976, pitting the top French wines against their counterparts from California and surprisingly, California swept the scores.
RocknRolla is a new Guy Ritchie project coming out in October. The plot being "London’s criminal underworld takes notice of a Russian mobster’s shady land deal, a scam that puts millions of dollars up for grabs."
It kinda looks like a darker mix of Lock Stock and Layer Cake.
We just had a wicked storm fly through here… Next time, I’ll try to set up the time lapse earlier.. and find a way to get a clock in the shot. This was over an hour or so…
Friday morning brings awesome. Please, allow me to demonstrate: A water balloon getting punched in slow motion.
An interesting article entitled "Bill Gates and the Greatest Tech Hack Ever", where Bill Gates’s efforts at Microsoft are examined as a $100 per worker AIDS/Malaria tax.
And for Tyler’s birthday: Troy McClure’s resume at IMDB, featuring such classics as "The Wackiest Covered Wagon In The West", "Muppets Go Medieval" and "Troy and Company’s Summertime Smile Factory".
And who can forget his industrial work? Such as "Man versus Nature: The Road to Victory", "The Half-assed Guide to Foundation Repair", "Two Minus Three Equals Negative Fun!" and of course, "The Meat Council: Meat and You: Partners in Freedom".
First, the nature. The Chaiten volcano in Chile continues to do otherworldly things and luckily hasn’t killed everyone nearby, thus awesome pictures like these. Article and more photos at the Daily Mail.
Now the sport, Nike has a series of commercials around the world having something to do with taking it to the next level. Here, some italian player named Pirlo, makes a ridiculous free kick over 30 defenders. Apparently, this is his "thing" that he does.
This weekend was quite intense and tiring as it featured Emily’s bridal shower and my parents meeting hers for the first time.
As my parents flew in on Thursday, this meant that if I was going to leave work in time to get out to Manchester and meet them, I would need to traverse the Celtics Victory parade that went right past my office. So I stayed home. This is always a mixed bag as I am able to focus on fewer items and get them done… but at the same time, I feel like I’m not getting much done because I’m not doing twelve things at a time.
Moving on, Thursday was a low-key afternoon and Friday featured the touristy stuff and parent meeting. We went to Alfresco’s near Davis Square and were rewarded by an amusing atmosphere and good meal. The meeting itself went well.
Saturday was the day of doom though, you see, this weekend was also the Boston stop for Mini Takes The States 2008 and we knew that we were going to miss most of it due to our previous engagement. We did manage to make it to the first half of the rise and shine rally along with some two hundred other MINIs. We had to then bail about a third of the way through as it kinda took a while to get up Route 1A.
We made it into a couple of pictures at the staging area as we were next to another lightning blue/silver Clubman and so seen from the front and then from the back
and we took our own pictures of what we saw. It was a pretty awesome sight and it was awesome to see the distances that people will go with these cars. I see the need to take a lot more time off and go on road trips. Depending on how they structure next year’s events, we might do that or else we’re thinking of Mickey and MINI down in Orlando, as we’ll have annual passes from Disney.
Anyways, I digress, after bombing down 128, Emily headed out to Fitchburg with my parents towards the bridal shower while I headed to Logan to pick up my sister. From what I saw, the shower itself was a nice event and we came back with a lot of loot, most of which easily fit in the back of the Clubman.
Thanks to all, your thank you cards will be in the mail shortly.
I somehow forgot that I had this blog… No, not really. Actually, sort of
Life has gotten kinda crazy and the blogs aren’t at the top of my mind.
I’ve found some interesting things worth sharing though:
Tomorrow will be an interesting day as I’m heading to an Advanced Driver Safety Skills school for Mini Cooper drivers being put on by the White Mountain chapter for the BMW Car Club of America. I’ll try to take some pictures but who knows how that will go.
Finally, Emily and I visited Coggshall Park, the site of her bridal shower next weekend, and I posted some pictures to Flickr and the wedding blog.
So I took a little break from the blogs to play Penny Arcade Adventures - On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One and was totally surprised at how much fun it was! I’ve never played any adventure/RPG type of games but quickly found out what worked and what didn’t.
There are some repetitive parts but the reason that I stuck with it was that the writing was just so freaking hilarious! From the descriptions of the items in the world to the character’s dialogue as they go about the business of chasing down the giant robot that crushed your house.
A+ Penny Arcade guys. A+.
I look forward to the next episode!
This weekend was quite interesting and there’s an equally interesting number of things out there to see!
